Professor Hugues Chabriat is the Coordinator of the reference centre for rare vascular diseases of the brain and eye (CERVCO, Centre de référence pour les maladies vasculaires rares du cerveau et de l'oeil). He did his hospital training in Paris. He is Professor of Neurology at the Denis Diderot University (Paris VII), Head of the Neurology Unit at Lariboisiere and member of the INSERM unit 740.

His research work centres mainly on rare diseases of the small vessels in the brain, cerebral imaging of cerebral arteriolar diseases and vascular-related cognitive disorders. With the Genetics team, he is taking part in the study of new families of vascular leukoencephalopathies of unknown origin. He is also working with other researchers to develop imaging tools to assess the development and future treatment of these diseases.

He has published over one hundred articles or chapters in books on vascular leukoencephalopathies, cerebral imaging of small vessel diseases of the brain and CADASIL.
